And the "first birds of Spring" theme resumes with this Sunday Mutts panel from five years ago today:
A one-shot from many years ago in the Wall Street Journal. This comic was the header on the Bird Toons page at the old Mickaboo website.
Mutts from this date one year ago. (Patrick McDonnell does a lot of bird-themed strips at the beginning of spring and again as migrating season begins, so be prepared for even more of this in the next few weeks.)
Since it is Easter season, here is a (sort of) Easter-themed Cheezburger recaption.
An early Bizarro panel, from Dan Piraro's fourth year of drawing it (1989). Note that there is no precise date as Dan was syndicated by the San Francisco Chronicle back then and there was no guarantee that all the newspapers buying the comic were running them in the same order. (Exact dates came later when Bizarro changed syndicators to King Features in the late 1990s.)
Anyway, enjoy.
Breaking away from the "first bird of spring" theme for a little while, here is Speed Bump from this date in 2012:
This Strange Brew is actually from three years ago tomorrow, but as we have another calendar conflict I am presenting it a day "early" in keeping with the theme of the past few days.
And now here's a Six Chix strip from March 4, 2014 ... following up nicely on the theme of our just-completed trio of Mutts strips. (In case it's too small to read, Margaret Shulock is the "chick" drawing this panel; as I explained way back a couple hundred entries ago, Six Chix is a collaborative effort by six female cartoonists, each of which draws the strip one day a week and one Sunday every six weeks.)
The third in a row of "Spring early birds" from Mutts, two years ago today:
Another "too early a bird" Mutts, from this date in 2014.
