Hi, I`m Houdini and I`m not an escape artist, I`m a 25-year-old bare-eyed cockatoo. My life hasn`t been easy. I got my foot trapped in a toy when my previous owner was out-of-town and to break free, I had to chew off part of my own foot. Although my right foot is no longer normal, I get around just fine. I step-up, like head scritches, and say hello, I love you and goodnight.

My most recent owner obtained me from a friend of the family and kept me for 5 years. Thank goodness he realized that I wasn`t getting the attention that I deserved because I was in great need of a better living situation with healthy food, toys, and a clean cage that I could get out of on a regular basis. I chewed on my feathers a bit and picked at my foot to show my displeasure.

My favorite treats are almond in the shell and popcorn. I don`t like purple food. I get frightened if anything big like a chair is carried by my cage. I also don`t like hats or glasses on people. I get loud if there are lots of people around or when it is past my 7 p.m. bedtime and I`m ready to be covered to go to sleep.

My foster dad is going to be transitioning me to a pellet-based diet and a better cage with toys and time out. You will never be able to escape your heart. So, it is better to listen to what it has to say. If my story is speaking to your heart, please go to "how to adopt" on the website and fill out an application to adopt me, Houdini.
