Hi! I&bt;m a female budgie who came to Mickaboo from the Sacramento shelter in February 2022 when my elderly person passed away. I was part of a flock that was taken into several different foster homes. My dear pal Larimar came with me into my foster home, but Larimar passed away of cancer in July 2025, and I am feeling very lonely at the moment. I need a new friend to snuggle and preen, to play with toys and chase around. I enjoy looking out the patio window at the big garden, watching wild birds and our foster mom&bt;s chickens. I am a calm budgie who is not flustered by dogs or the three-legged kitty cat who hangs around and watches my cage like TV from across the room. Can you be my forever home? I need a home with at least one other budgie. Check out my feature video from one of Mickaboo&bt;s online adoption fairs here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1R7u96i2Jtw&t=1487s&authuser=1
In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
