I have a great diet of pellets and some vegetables, and my favorite treat is a fresh sprig of millet. I sing a bit, but my human keeper says I don`t know any songs. He also says I`m the smartest of his birds, and I`ll even go back into my cage when asked. My ideal home would be a place with adults, or maybe older children, who have an older cockatiel who is also in need of a friend. If you think that might be you, reach out to the Cockatiel team to hear more about me.
In nature, cockatiels live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single cockatiel to a household if there is already at least one cockatiel living there. Otherwise, cockatiels must be adopted in groups of two or more.
