Even certain bluebirds have off days ... Cheezburger from February 18, 2012.
Of the six women cartoonists who rotate on the page where Six Chix appears in the newspaper, Margaret Shulock has bird toons most often ... the others, not so much (and I have never seen anything even close to a bird-themed strip from either Anne Gibbons or Benita Epstein). Today, the only strip in my archives from Stephanie Piro, which I have been holding off on posting until we started seeing snow in those areas of the country that get same. From January 26, 2013.
I'm a few days late for this to be right on the mark timely, but here is a New Year themed Mutts from January 2, 2013.
A rare anthropomorphic turn for Dan Piraro in this Bizarro from January 17, 2010 ... with a punchline that (more typical for Dan) turns a cliché on its side.
Another one of those Frank and Ernest groaners, from December 19, 2010.

Another of Jason Love's "Snapshots".
I wanted to start the New Year with the very first Calvin and Hobbes bird-related toon, but was chagrined to find that I already posted the first two in the course of 2015. (This is the result of not having been able to properly calculate the original publication dates, which I am now able to do, having located my bound set of The Complete Calvin and Hobbes.) So here is the third C&H to have a bird theme, from September 13, 1987:
The final total is $27,310, over 90% of our $30,000 end-of-year fundraising goal! THANK YOU for your collective generosity - our volunteers and Board of Directors are flabbergasted and humbled by your outpouring of support. The funds will go a long way toward meeting the medical needs of our foster flock (depending on how needy our birds are, of course - our December 2015 bill from just ONE veterinary clinic exceeded $25k).
Want to jumpstart your New Year with a gift? Here are the ways:
ALL gifts of any size are welcome and are fully tax-deductible. Monthly giving is also VERY appreciated, as this provides a way for us to plan our cash flow (and avoid emergency funding calls!).
Today's results include final totals for both online giving and checks we have received through the mail.
Wishing all of you a Happy and Healthy New Year!
