Willie

Hi, my name is Willie. I came to Mickaboo in May 2022 when my owner was no longer able to care for me. I was bought as a Christmas present-- along with one of my friends-- from a corporate pet store that doesn`t care or ask questions. I was gifted to my elderly owner, but that was not as wonderful as it was meant to be. My friend was simply "let go" because we were too noisy together...

That was a year ago. I kept looking out the window, hoping he`d come back. I was so lonely! I learned to listen to the wild birds outside and copy their songs and noises. My foster parents tell me they love it when I quack like a duck! So, I quack a lot! It makes everyone laugh, and I like that. I am learning to listen to music. Guess who my favorite is? Willie Nelson! Guess I have the perfect name :-)

I lived in a much too-tiny cage at my old house. I never got out, so I didn`t a lot of exercise, or have toys to chew up, so I don`t know anything about toys or swings, or even new food dishes! I will still only eat or drink out of my old food dishes.

I am in a much better environment at my foster home, but it took me a few weeks to work up the courage to explore my new place! I still am a little skittish, but my foster parents say it`s okay to take it real slow, and they don`t push me. I like it when they talk to me and sing to me; it makes me feel safe. They got me a mirror so I won`t be so lonely in quarantine, but I hear the birds in the other room and I just wish I could be with them-- I call to them all day! They tell me I`ll have a real friend to play with soon-- I can`t wait!

I will be ready for a forever home soon. I look forward to being in a real budgie flock and getting to know what it`s like to never be lonely again!
