I`m currently housed with my budgie pal Chessy. We are both very hand shy and will hop to the top perches when our foster mom cleans our cage and feeds us. We get veggies every day, but we don`t eat them! Sometimes our foster parent covers our Nutri-An cakes with lettuce or kale, but we are smart - we remove it to get to the good stuff!
I have a scar on her cere from a healed wound. I like to be near a mirror, and neither of us have figured out that toys are for playing - we never had any when we were young and haven`t made that connection yet.
I would love a forever home, if you can!
In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
