Feb 2026: Hi again, it`s me Sunshine writing you from my vacation home! My foster mom travels a lot, so vacation mom is taking care of me again, and I surprised her with my expert cat meowing sounds. She was terrified and thought a real kitty had come into the house, hahahah! So that`s me. I`m kinda sneaky and I pull out surprises to keep you on your toes. Vacation mom calls me marshmallow peep. What is that? It sounds like food, but lately I`m obsessed with blueberries. Vacation mom cuts them for me, like she does my grapes. As I become less shy with her, she finds sometimes I fly to her shoulder and once in while I will let her touch me. I just really like to do things on my terms, and I am clear what they are. I will growl a tiny quiet growl to protect my space, and sometimes I might try to bite, but my little beak doesn`t damage skin. I really like having my people around even if I don`t want to be held. I fly to the rooms they are in and go looking for them. I make a 2- or 3-syllable flock call/chirp to say hello when they come home or in the morning when my breakfast hasn`t come. Vacation mom says I am pretty quiet overall for a ringneck and have some cute relaxation noises. Traveling is fun, but I sure would like to find my person or family to warm up to for a good, long time. If you give me a treat like a half a sunflower seed or pine nut or any big nut you cut up, I am very happy and cooperative.

12/2025: Hi, everybirdy! My name is Sunshine, and I came to Mickaboo when my dads passed away. They loved me a lot, so the change has been hard, especially since one of them got to snuggle and pet me. Sometimes I will step up, and some days I am more brave with humans than others. My foster mom says that I am very smart, quick to learn, and so fearless around other, bigger birds that I will need to be monitored carefully. I like investigating other birds` food, toys, and cages, so that is probably why I am missing a toe. I`ve been slowly and steadily getting used to new people and surroundings, and through my sometimes-tough exterior, I am showing my softer side along with my pretty yellow feathers and blue eyes. I mostly like to do what I want on my own terms and appreciate an open cage door and my flight explorations, so if you have dogs or cats I might not fit in well unless you can keep me safe and separated. My foster mom also says that I communicate very well, with softer and happy purr and gurgle sounds and louder and more demanding angry sounds that you can learn to interpret. Also that I am clear with my body language whether I want to step. If you can listen and learn to read me, I think we will get along great for many years. I am 16 now, and it would be really nice for me to find my lifelong human friend/s who will love me for that many more years ahead.
