Starla

Meet Starla; a sweet cockatiel, who joined the Mickaboo family after being rescued as a stray by a lady in San Jose. It was clear she needed immediate medical attention. Our veterinary team noted her extremely soft beak, which prevented her from eating solid seeds, and her overall very poor condition. While her blood work was initially difficult to process due to high lipid levels, her packed cell volume (PCV) was fortunately within normal limits.

Starla is now receiving specialized care, including a diet of softened pellets to support her recovery and ensure she`s getting proper nourishment. We`re dedicated to helping her regain her strength and vitality. Starla is a testament to the importance of rescue and rehabilitation, and we`re excited to see her blossom in a caring home. In nature, cockatiels live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single cockatiel to a household if there is already at least one cockatiel living there. Otherwise, cockatiels must be adopted in groups of two or more.
