Arturo is approximately 35 years old, a handsome, middle-aged gentleman who prefers women. He says his name with a Spanish flair, mumbles words in Bulgarian, whistles, and laughs when you laugh. He was wild caught and brought here from Central America, then spent the next thirty years in a cage in a garage from which he was never let out.

For the past five years, he`s lived with a man who has done his best for him. However, he is outside in a shed most of the time, because there`s not enough room in the house for his cage, and gets very little time out of his cage. He is on a good diet of pellets and fresh fruit and vegetables. The current owner took him to a vet for a fractured air sac on his back. It is still visible but doesn`t appear to be causing him any problems. He appears otherwise to be healthy and in relatively fine feather.

Arturo is half-way to stepping up. He will put one foot on a female human hand or a stick, and would likely step up all the way with a little bit of practice. He does like having his head scratched and will easily go into a carrier for a treat.

Arturo is loud at normal flock times (morning, evening) and when he sees humans walk by the shed (perhaps hoping for some attention!). Although the current owner says he has tried target training, Arturo still sometimes lunges at him. He does not lunge at females and warms up to them quickly.

If you have room in your home and love in your heart, please consider fostering Arturo and giving him a better life. You can see a short video of Arturo here.
