I`m extremely intelligent. I speak at least three languages: Spanish, Bulgarian and a little English. I do talk a lot, but I don`t scream. When I want to get your attention, I`ll call out, "abuela!" or "Where is Ar-TU-ro!" or "hello?" and some other stuff, some of which my foster mom doesn`t seem to understand. I`m also an expert sound effects artist.
I love showers. As soon as I hear the water running, I begin performing my shower repertoire, which is complex and beautiful, even if I do say so myself. I`m also always surprising my human with new sounds and words. For instance, I have a vacuum repertoire, which I performed for her for the first time yesterday when she vacuumed.
I`m a good eater. I love cooked veggies and beans and pulses. I like those things sprouted, too! I also eat zupreem natural pellets.
I don`t fly, though my wings are fine. I`m can`t remember if I know how. My foster siblings make it look easy, and some times I think about launching myself--I even flutter my wings--but I`m too scared to take the plunge. There`s nothing wrong with my admitting that. It`s okay to be scared. My foster mom is starting to work with me so I can learn again.
I`m very healthy. At my last vet appointment, my vet told me he was envious of my chest muscles. I`m not overweight, in fact I`m pretty solid muscle all over. I have no signs of heart disease, which is unusual for an amazon of my age. Good genes. I do have a slightly inflated air sac, but it doesn`t cause me any discomfort.
I love head scritches, and I love rubbing my cheek against my human`s cheek. I don`t bite, and I step right up. I`m pretty happy going to anyone, unless you`re a man. If you`re a man and you try to get near me and my lady friends, I will lunge at you.
Oh, I do chew on baseboards, of course. But why would you put perfectly good wood right at my eye level and expect me NOT to do something with it? I like cardboard, too.
I`m content to spend much of my day just hanging out on my human`s shoulder or chewing up toys. But I also LOVE to explore. Before I came to Mickaboo, I spent a long time mostly in a cage, so I want to walk around and look at everything.
Do you want to know about my dream forever home? I`ll tell you! I am the perfect bird for someone who has always wanted an Amazon without an Amazon`s usual baggage. I`ve got a lot of years left, (potentially 25 to 30), so ideally you`re a human who could spend the rest of those years with me . I don`t mind other birds, but the ones here seem to not like me so much. Especially the little bright orange one who is VERY loud. I think that he wants to be the only one who sits on my foster human`s shoulder, though I`m happy enough to share. A human should also be able to give me lots of attention, even if it`s just ambient attention. If you work from home, I can be very quiet when you`re on calls, unless I feel like joining in.
Since I love being out of my cage and exploring, if you have a bird safe room or can supervise me while we take walks around the house, that would be ideal. I`m also very good about playing quietly with my toys, as long as you give me the right kind.
I would prefer a female-only household. If there IS a male present, he should be prepared to accept the fact that I`m the most important man in the house. I might also benefit from some behavior training to help me get over my dislike. Who knows?
If I sound like the perfect bird for you, contact the amazon coordinator, and we`ll set up a date to meet!
