Hi, my name is Mija, and I am a friendly female budgie with some special medical needs. I came to Mickaboo with bleeding in my cloaca. I wore a cone for a while and sometimes I live in a special bin to prevent me from damaging myself there. I spent a long time at the vet, but I am glad to be in a foster home. I am definitely a bird that requires extra attention and care. Sometimes, I pluck all my tail feathers and pick at my cloaca. If you want to help me have a forever home, I`d be glad to become a part of your family.
In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
