May came to Mickaboo in March 2024 after being abandoned in a home then brought to a shelter. She`s a young bird, about three years old on intake. Her wing was previously broken and hasn`t healed correctly, so she`ll never be able to fly. But this makes her very easy to care for, especially since she steps up and loves head scritches. She would most likely love to have a companion--maybe one who is also special needs! To find out more, contact the cockatiel coordinator!
In nature, cockatiels live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single cockatiel to a household if there is already at least one cockatiel living there. Otherwise, cockatiels must be adopted in groups of two or more.
