Hi, I`m L.B. That stands for Little Bird. I am a male Goffin`s cockatoo. Did you know Goffin`s cockatoos are usually smaller than African greys? I am a very special bird who came from a bad situation. I wasn`t being fed often and was emaciated. I have a small bare spot on my sternum from where I plucked and self-mutilated at that time. In foster care, I`ve gained weight and I`ve stopped self-mutilating. I am currently eating a pellet and seed mix but resist fresh fruit and vegetables. I hope you can help me learn to enjoy fresh fruit and veggies because it would be really good for me.

I am a bit reserved but enjoy showing off once I warm up. New toys scare me so they need to be introduced slowly. I love it when my humans sing to me. Any song will do, but I really like it if you incorporate my name into the song. I love a good dance party and will bob along with folks who dance with me. I know the wings command and will spread out my wings when you say it. I also step-up if I trust you. If new people come to see me, I will lift my crest and go over to say Hello. I like to go to the bottom of the cage and hop around in the morning, and say Hey while I dance. I enjoy a bowl full of warm water for baths.

I talk and in addition to saying Hello and Hey, I say Hi and Ruby. I also mimic a cat`s meow. I make really sweet Aww sounds when I`m sleeping. Although I am on the quieter side for a cockatoo, I do have a laughing/trilling call when I want attention, and a harsh alarm call when scared. One thing that triggers my alarm call is that scary vacuum! Have you heard the noise those things make? Yikes!
