I`m Gus, a gorgeous male Moluccan cockatoo of about 30 years of age. I am here with Mickaboo because my owner passed away. Though my owner was a male human, I have to admit that I prefer female humans. I especially dislike alpha males. I will protect my female human from those pesky alpha males. I have lived with a small dog in my home. I step up and like my head scratched. I am afraid of the outdoors. I would benefit from an improved diet since I came to Mickaboo eating a cockatoo seed mix. No one knew how long it had been since I saw a vet, so Mickaboo took me to the avian vet for a checkup. If you are a human female looking for a little protection and lots of company from a big cockatoo, please go to "how to adopt" on the website and fill out an application to adopt Gus!

5/12/2023 Update from Boarding Facility (after one week): Gus was happy from day 1. He makes all kinds of interesting noises and talks up a storm. He is friendly to everyone and seems to be utterly entertained with the commotion around him. He is surrounded by other cockatoos and he also steps up nicely and we hold him whenever we have time. We haven`t seen him working (negatively) on his wing which looks like he barbered the feathers in the past. We are giving him frequent showers to help his feathers.

5/24/2023 Update: I had to go back to the vet because one of my lab results looked abnormal. After a second test, I got the all clear and I`m a healthy boy! I am stepping up for lots of people, talking, and making kissing noises. I`m not even afraid of towels.
