Hi, I`m Memphis, a little green girl budgie who came to Mickaboo in September 2022 via a local shelter. My foster mom says I am a LOT of bird in a little tiny bundle. I love climbing up the cage, then firefighter sliding down before tunneling under the newspaper, food, and water bowls, rolling myself up in a burrito, then leaping back up to head bob at my toys. Repeat ad infinitum. I am VERY bold and active, and much more interested in my humans than my foster flock. I race the others to the food bowls, and I usually win! Wouldn`t I make a great addition to your flock?
In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
