Hi, I`m Cricket. I`m a dark green opaline budgie with a yellow face, a darker green chest and abdomen, and black markings with very thin head bars and green my on wings between the black markings. I was surrendered to a shelter with two budgie friends when my person could no longer care for us. I am bonded to my pal Sundance and we need to be adopted together, but then who would want to break up such a sweet pair? We like to sing, we`re good sleepers, and we will happily eat from a human hand, though I admit we`re are a little skittish if the human neglects to have food in that hand!
In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
