Hello! I`m Thea, a budgie surrendered to Mickaboo via the San Francisco animal shelter in October 2021. When I first came to Mickaboo, I tested positive for Avian Gastric Yeast. Unfortunately this illness affects many budgies, but it is easily treated with oral medicine. Once I finished my course of medication, the nice people at Mickaboo confirmed that I`ve kicked AGY and so now I`m healthy and ready to be adopted.

I love to play with my toys, nibble on leafy green vegetables, and hang out with the other budgies in my foster home. I prefer not to interact with humans too much, but they don`t bother me either. There is a preschool-age kid in my foster home and while I don`t mind them, I also don`t go rushing over to eat millet from their hand like some of the other budgies do. If you would like a nice housemate who is glad to see you but also likes to do her own thing, I`m your gal!

In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
