Woman holding Loulou, a lovebirdLoulou’s story with Mickaboo began last September, on the wild and windy trails of Lands End in San Francisco. While hiking on the trail, a woman vacationing in the City spotted the sweet little lovebird. Loulou was flying all alone, far from any houses.

Loulou’s finder happened to be a veterinarian. She was able to catch and hold Loulou in her hands. The rescuer then used her sweater to ‘towel’  Loulou until she could get back to her accommodation. From there, she called different animal services organizations until she found Mickaboo. She took the time to do all this for Loulou even though she had a flight scheduled for later that day.

Sarah picked up Loulou and brought her into Mickaboo’s care. Loulou was quite thin when she came to us, but she’s a good eater and was soon back to a healthy weight. Mickaboo posted found bird reports, but didn’t receive any responses.

Lovebird sitting on a personAfter Loulou settled into her foster home, we discovered Loulou is quite the escape artist. She quickly learned how to open the food doors of her cage. Her foster mom now keeps the doors tied with string, which she hasn’t seemed to figure out yet.

Loulou is lucky to have been found by the kind visitor at the edge of the Bay. We’re looking forward to placing her soon in her forever home. Read more about Loulou and let us know if you're interested in adopting her here.
