Thank you, Pam and Marsha! Folks- if you know of other shelters or schools with summer Humane Education programs such as described below, please help us connect! The Santa Cruz SPCA is having “summer camp” sessions for youth in elementary and junior high school grades, and has invited Mickaboo to come! The camp organizers are looking for a volunteer (or volunteers) to speak one day out of each week; the date and time are flexible based on the volunteer(s)’s schedules. Recommended speaking time is 45-60 minutes if possible – and of course the topic is about having birds as pets – what it means to be a responsible bird owner, and what makes birds a good choice or not for the situation at hand. So, if YOU wanted to volunteer – you could pick your hour sometime during the week of July 9 (for example). The camp is held at 2260 7th Avenue, Santa Cruz, at the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter. Help! My Neighbor Dfound an Iinjured Pigeon

My apartment manager brought over a pigeon that has been wandering for several days outside someone's apartment. She says he can't fly. Right now he is in a box and I don't know what to do! I haven't even opened the box yet. I've never EVER even handled a pigeon. I don't know how to assess it for injuries or where I should take him if he *is* injured. Hello! Wow! Thank you all SO much for helping to make MickaCoo's very first Garage Sale Fundraiser SO successful! We raised... (drumroll please)... $1066! Yay!!!! Special thanks to Kelly and Leftovers Consignment Store<http://www.leftoverstores.com/>, Tracey, Kate, Susan, Claudia, Mike, Robert, Clare, Chris, Josette for donating items, helping on the day of and/or shopping! And a super special thank you to Cheryl who not only donated items to the sale but also coordinated the whole thing, wrangled all the donated items, surrendered two rooms in her house to the effort for weeks while we were rained out, promoted the event, hosted the event and fed volunteers and worked really hard to make it such a wonderful success! Yay, Cheryl!!!!! AMAZINGLY, Cheryl is game to host another one and so MickaCoo will be doing it again on Saturday, 5/12! Thank you very much!
