[Mickaboo Action] Fortuna - Urgently Needs a Bay Area Foster Home

Hi! Fortuna, the little Yellow Collar Macaw that was attacked by the hawk, is recovering despite a hole in his thorax, which allows air to leak out. This will heal. "Tuna's" vet has suggested he might move to a home setting in the next day or so and I would like very much to find a home in the South Bay or San Mateo County, where he can continue a relationship with his current vet in Sunnyvale or one of the other vets nearby. Ailsa, the mention of respiratory leads me to ask, do all of our sick birds automatically get tested for papilloma and other like viruses?

May I ask why he has to go to Dr Ferguson after the vet in Roseville? It's just been raining conures again lately (they're so festively coloured, I know the universe is just trying to make all our homes prettier for the holidays and then help us maintain that festive feeling into the New Year!) Good morning all ~ We had a Jenday conure surrendered to us last night. Right now he's at the vet in Roseville with some sort of upper respitory issue, and hopefully today he'll make it down to Holly Street to be seen by Dr. Ferguson. Once he's done there, he's going to need a foster home. I expect that to be possibly as soon as today or tomorrow. [Mickaboo Action] We need a new tagline----

Hi-- As you know, we're very close to finalizing our new name---"Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue". When we start using the new name on the website and printed material, we're going to drop "Rescuing parrot type birds in Northern California." Two reasons for that: 1) We don't want to limit ourselves geographically 2) The new name says the same thing re what we do As a result, we'd like to come up with a new tag line or 'condensed statement of purpose'. One of the things that makes Mickaboo what it is, is that we do not triage birds and we do not make any distinctions in the level of care we offer birds based on their monetary value---budgies gets the same level of care as macaws. Every bird we take in gets the best we've got in terms of medical care, multiple opinions in difficult cases, surgeries, and long-term treatment.
