We could easily make this a two or even three legged trip! If you can do ANY piece of it, let Maria know. How about Bay Point to Hayward? Then Hayward to San Jose? Hi, Michelle Blackwell lives in Pleasanton with her husband. They have a single male canary, and would like another canary. They took a Mickaboo class, and I did a phone screen. Michelle sounds like a good potential adopter. They allow their canary to fly daily in an enclosed area, and sleep in its cage at night or when it is not supervised. The home visit person should check to be sure the flight area is safe. Other than that, this person sounds like a good home. I have attached the application. [Mickaboo Action] Anyone open to fostering a possible-Jenday/Sun conure? Please? :)

I have a surrenderer who needs to give up her conure. This is a bird she rescued about 6 years ago from a horribly abusive situation, and now for her own personal reasons she cannot give the bird the time and attention it needs. I'm still not totally clear on what type of conure it is, she hasn't yet sent pictures, but she describes the bird as "green with a yellow and orange belly" so I'm guessing it's a Sun or Jenday? The rest of what I know about the bird at this point is: " ... 15 yr. old conure, Maggie. She is a great bird. I have had her for about 6 years. Unfortunately, prior to that, she was in an abusive situation. She also suffers from some problems with her claws - several are missing or malformed. Her nails had rarely, if ever been cut before I got her and I have attempted to work them back. They are still longer than they should be (and I am chicken about drawing blood). She is fine in her cage but has difficulties keeping her balance on your arm. She doesn't scream but loves to jabber, play with her bell and throw food to the dog." The surrenderer is taking Maggie to the vet today and will be faxing in her health report along with the surrender docs. I'd love to get a foster home lined up for Maggie - one that can give her time and attention, provide for her disabilities, and help her to be comfortable coming out of her cage. Her current mom really does love her, but really can't give her the time and attention she needs. Please let me know if you'd like to give this little one a new lease on life. [Mickaboo Action] Blue & Gold need foster home

Hi! We have a stray Blue & Gold macaw sitting in an "infamous" East Bay Shelter, who may be released to Mickaboo early next week. I would consider all serious offers to foster this bird - even short term offers - just so we can move him from that place. I know many folk have vacation plans, kids out of school, and lots of other reasons why helping this bird may not be convenient. Unfortunately there is no slack season for desperate birds and if you can help even for a month until we get something else lined up, he and I will be so grateful. Thanks. Hi All, Sasha the tiel is in need of a foster home. She was rescued from the Solano Shelter last weekend. She is being fostered on a temporary basis by Scott, a Mickaboo volunteer who is fostering budgies but Sasha is in need of a more permanent foster home. Scott describes her as hand shy but very personable and friendly. She likes to chatter, sing and trys to imitate what you are saying or whistling! Does anyone have room for this sweet gal?? The foster home is in Redwood City, so it would be a short hop from our Redwood City Storage unit to the foster home.
