[Mickaboo Action] Equipment coordinator for Peninsula needed

Hello Everyone, This is Bill Kennedy here. For the last 3 years I have been doing what I can to help Mickaboo in it's endeavors in aiding our feathered friends. Mainly this has involved moving and to a lesser degree, keeping track of cages for MCBR. Now Melinda Wong has taken over the tracking part and is doing an outstanding job. In case you don't know, Shannon and I are moving to Davis within the next week. While I will still do what I can as far as helping out with equipment, my 'hands on' days on the Peninsula are over. After we get settled in up in Davis, perhaps I can find time to engage in more equipment activities in our new area. I feel privileged to have been a help to Mickaboo these last few years, while seeing our organization grow by leaps and bounds. I also feel worry at this time because we need someone to fill in for me now. Someone who is willing to help out after work and sometimes on short notice, to get a cage delivered to where a needy bird is waiting. Or to pick up and find storage for donated cages that are the needed for our birds. Currently, there is a storage unit in Redwood City that is full of cages and other Mickaboo equipment. There is a section of a beautiful horse stable that is being loaned to us in Los Gatos. Up in some gorgeous redwood country in the Santa Cruz mountains, by the way. The ride up there, while longer and out of the way, is truly inspiring. There is some storage in the East Bay as well. Not to make myself sound more important than I am. I know I am just one person who is part of a great group of people who, through their efforts and time donated, have made the lives of hundreds and hundreds of birds so much better. But we need someone or a small group of someones to step forward and say they will do what needs to get done to keep the equipment flowing on the Peninsula. [Mickaboo Action] Amazon Foster Home Needed - Peppie is Peppina??

Once upon a time there was a family who contacted Mickaboo and said they had the meanest amazon in the world and hadn't been able to handle him for years. So Tom McMasters-Stone braved the elements on a winter day and arrived to pick up this tough bird. What he found indeed was an aggressive bird, who lived in a crummy cage outside on an open porch, literally blowing in the artic winds. Peppie went to Tom's house for a few months to warm up and settle down. Not much settling happened and there was an opportunity to pair Peppie up with another really aggressive amazon, Jimmy, who was living with Lissa Shoun, where he was being gentled and home schooled. Jimmy is afraid of other birds and Lissa felt he had come such a long way in his progress that she wanted to introduce him to one of his own. Peppie moved on down 80 and 280 and met up with the Jimster. According to Lissa both birds were in full display for a few days and then they began to be mirror images - two beautiful Double Yellow Heads eating at the same time, preening at the same time, within view of each other. Lissa started clicker training and school with Peppie too, who thrived on the challenges and showed a high level of intelligence. Jimmy began to revert to some old ways of incessant screaming. And Peppie began to flatten her posture on her perch and demonstrate some wanton ways in Jimmy's direction. Jimmy is a DNA sexed male so we had to assume that Peppie (or Peppina) is probably female! The social experiment with Jimmy can't continue with a lady in the midst. Now we have to move Peppina so that Jimmy can regroup and get focused on his training again while we look for a REAL AMAZON BIRD MAN to meet Jimmy. Anyone willing to take on Peppina, a really beautiful bird, who according to Lissa has just had a really bad life but wants so much to be loved? Lissa says Peppina has a lot of companion bird potential. We would like to find a foster home where someone has time to continue clicker training with Peppina so she can build her confidence in human interactions. Thanks. Good morning all ~ Tweety the Jenday needs to move to a new home. He really hates teenage boys due to abuse when he was young, and his current foster home has a teen boy in it. He's very loving and sweet with his foster mom, but does all he can to get at her son to attack. We *really* need to move Tweety asap. We have been waiting desperately for the lab results fearing the worst. The labs are back and the scary disease process we were concerned about is not there. He has a lot of abnormalities in his blood work and will need a change to a very nutritious diet, daily medications for a while and lots of patience from the foster parents. He will require normal quarantine but not isolation. Pancho is not friendly so he will need a skilled handler. Looking at the pictures of this bird you just know somebody was oblivious to his needs. He needs us now and we know it. Will someone please offer to help him on the next phase of his life? Thanks. Hi! Miracles continue to happen within Mickaboo and it all comes together like clockwork. Somebody's mom in Nevada is willing to drive hours to pick up Sinbad and his cage, keep him for a while, drive him into California and deliver him into local hands. And a nice young couple approved to foster or adopt have been waiting for just the right bird to join them when they move into a San Francisco home early in June. The right bird will be Sinbad as their first Mickaboo foster. Sounds like a piece of cake but lots of behind the scenes effort goes into every single connection like this.
