FYI all, I have now disabled the confluence daily exports/backups. ASM and Confluence now both backup in full monthly, and in daily incremental chunks based on the binlog. This will make disk usage much smaller and snapshots easier, but it will make a theoretical full restore a bit of a pain. Still, we do backups every day and hopefully won't be doing any full restores at all, so a good trade-off.
