Wendi: I will ask Mal to work with you on those tests to accommodate that and so there are two sets of eyes looking at the details of how the site install is done before we move it to production. Wendi Whitcomb wrote:
Hi Matt:
When we do move the new website back to the development server I will need root access during final testing of the web development. For now it is a non issue as long as we can keep the pipe open to the ASM db.

Hi all! I've been trying to put together a timeline for Mickaboo's tech stuff. After May it is possible that I'll be extremely busy during the day and only have ANY time to answer mickaboo questions later at night. If that occurs it'll be critical that the production setup be as stable as possible so there aren't outages.
By May I'd like to have the development server built with Debian 4.0 and online somewhere that we can have inbound access on pretty much any port. I will set it up with the same firewall rules we use for the production server but we can loosen them up as needed. Only tech team members will have shell accounts on the dev server, but I'll be much more accomodating security-wise. For example, the development box will not automatically firewall hosts that it sees doing strange stuff.
Gaylen, Mal and I will share root on the development box and move all the "testing" or development stuff over to it and remove those things from the production server. Any feature requests for ASM, contuning work on integration, new website testing, etc, will be done on that server.
Between now and May I would REALLY like to strongly and consistently encourage folks within Mickaboo to email tech-help@mickaboo.org when they have any issues, rather than directly emailing me or Mal or Chloe. By May I'd like to have driven home that emailing tech-help@mickaboo.org is THE best way to get help.
What are your thoughts?
