Those topics would still be on discuss, in my "world view." :) But we can decide to open up the new "volutneers" list to whatever topics seem appropriate. I was thinking it would be pretty strictly limited to Mickaboo business and contacting our core volunteers efficiently, without the email noise of discuss.

I completely agree. I think with the limited topics, there would not be a huge amount of emails do deal with.
I'm sure I'm overlooking some of the problems here, and I'm not committed to this idea. But it does have its attractions.
