Michelle ( and tech team ).... I'm uninterested in having a long debate
with Karen on the admins list about her individual circumstances
technically, so I pulled this back to just us.
I'm not sure how her ASM record of movement was "lost" but I suspect that
she entered it during the ASM stand-down period, or closed her browser
prior to saving the animal record. Having a single movement record lost
without any corruption in the DB index or the integer count for records
would be incredibly unusual.
As for her "Static" IP, the logs show it changing between Jan 30 and Jan
31 to a fairly different netblock within her ISP (/18 level, it looks
like). She is either semi-static, dynamic, or behind a NAT pool.

I don't use dial-up. I have DSL so I have a static
IP.

Well, lets clarify. The address MAY change each
time you reconnect to
your ISP. Many ISPs, like Dial-up providers, do
provide you a new IP
each time you connect.
Others, like DSL and Cable, leave the same IP
connected to you for
months or even years at a time. Other places like
most workplaces will
leave you a static IP as well.
