Dear MickaCoo Supporters, Please accept my deep and heartfelt appreciation for your support of MickaCoo's efforts in the June Pepsi Refresh grant competition. Wherever your support fell on the spectrum- from tolerating my daily reminders to vote in a very wonky contest to click-voting and texting every day to the epic and all-in effort that many of you made, I appreciate that you chose to give what you did more than I can express. We were not able to win, ranking 31st out of 160+ projects, but I am extremely proud of and moved by your efforts made on behalf of MickaCoo. And, along with all that, this month, we also successfully placed 40 pigeons and doves, that would have been otherwise euthanized, into wonderful forever homes<http://www.rescuereport.org/2011/06/some-of-40-birds-adopted-from-mickacoo.…> . [image: SDC10368.jpg] I've taken on more direct-care cases, including Melody<http://www.rescuereport.org/2011/06/melody.html>, Junior & Sweets <http://www.rescuereport.org/2011/06/mercy-or-mistake.html> and Lucky & Biscuit <http://www.rescuereport.org/2011/05/being-lucky.html>, than I can well sustain and that impacts my ability to organize and lead MickaCoo's broader efforts so I'll be working to restore some balance in my role. MickaCoo is having growing pains and I need to better share the responsibilities amongst our volunteers. Without the $25K Pepsi grant, I'll need to find another way to create some sustainability for MickaCoo and will be pursuing a fiscal sponsor through whom I can both fundraise for and earn a salary. I'm considering both SEE<http://www.saveourplanet.org/> and Tides<http://www.tides.org/i-want-to/turn-my-vision-ideas-into-a-nonprofit-projec…> and need help to fulfill the possibility. If you've got experience or ideas to share, your help would be very welcome. Finally, in July, MickaCoo's inspiration and biggest supporter, Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue <http://www.refresheverything.com/mickaboo> will be competing in the Pepsi Refresh Project for a sensible and winnable $5K grant. So far this month, MickaCoo has placed 39 pigeons and doves that would otherwise have been euthanized into wonderful, responsible forever homes.
