Re: [MickaCoo] [Mickaboo Discuss] A long history of doing the impossible

I think there's still a recycling center in Berkeley/Alameda County. Anyone
over there who could hit up that one?

Happy sunny Sunday! There was a woman on Freecycle SF who wrote me and said she collects coke caps at the recycle center, we don't have that sort of place we could walk in here, just the garbage yard and they are them like 10 foot tall dumpsters. I will pick a shelf of Pepsi up and give power voting a try again, but we would need A LOT of Pepsi! I think it is amazing we are holing on to 31, There are 30 groups fighting just as hard to stay on top. Really amazing! The last Pepsi contest back in January we were in the 90's or something like that, I forget.
Make is a great day! I am taking Moshi to meet a Potential Adopter today, wish us luck!

Besides working with Elizabeth to draft a MickaCoo/Pepsi press pitch for local media, which I plan to send out tomorrow morning, I have been trying very hard to think of ways to get PV codes.
Yesterday I went to the Marin County recycling center and collected a bunch of unused power vote caps from the big plastic dumpsters. (A few people looked at me funny, but nobody tried to stop me. I am not above dumpster diving for the birds.) I've tried posting on craigslist and freecycle, asking for codes, without much success. (The freecycle admin deleted my posts, which I understand; it's not really the purpose of the organization.) Tomorrow, I'm actually thinking of going to a big cafeteria at lunchtime -- think Kaiser -- to approach Pepsi drinkers and ask for the codes on their caps. A friend of mine is going to do the same at the UCSF cafeteria.
Any other ideas greatly appreciated!
Shae

I have to admit, I tried registering for the Pepsi Refresh Challenge when it first started, had problems, got frustrated and quit. Then a friend of mine in MO asked me to help enter power votes for her small non-profit ( http://www.refresheverything.com/hutsformutts) and I finally got my account activated last week.
I've been voting for Mickacoo ever since as well.
I've watched her group moved from #26 to #10 since last week, so it can be done! I think the power votes really help.
I just noted the four groups you're doing reciprocal (sp?) votes with, so will start to vote for them as well.
If you happen to get a large batch of power votes and need help entering them, let me know and I'd be happy to do that!
Laura

We're MOVING UP!
Dear MickaCoo Supporters,
While it may seem improbable that we could climb from our current Pepsi Refresh ranking of #31 to the winning spot of 15 in less than a week, I want
to remind you that together, we already have a long history of achieving the impossible. Every day we are saving the lives of birds that are said to be unrescue-able and finding them amazing, responsible forever homes.
Currently there is a handful of volunteers who are going *all out to really generate votes for MickaCoo. PLEASE join this effort and once again, help MickaCoo to do the impossible.*
-PLEASE vote here http://www.refresheverything.c/ om/mickacoopigeonanddoverescue AND text 106711 to 73774. -PLEASE share this link on your Facebook page and *ask your friends to vote too.* -PLEASE collect and use any Pepsi "power votes" (from specially marked Pepsi products) that you can. -PLEASE vote for these projects and leave a comment saying that you're from MickaCoo and asking them to vote too.
