Every suggestion that funding for anything other than police or fire should be restored has triggered a huge public outcry from the police union down here. And I'm really concerned about the fact that none of the South Bay animal shelters, not HSSV, SJACS nor SVACA place birds! Any birds that arrive in those shelters must be rescued or they are killed. How is it possible that one of the most community-minded, financially-thriving regions in the country accepts ZERO civic responsibility for homeless pet birds? (Other shelters, such as PHS, SFACC, HACS, MHS do place birds.) Does anyone have the bandwidth to pursue this with South Bay leaders?
