Hello- I wanted to alert you all that, from my perspective, MickaCoohttp://www.MickaCoo.orgis currently full and unable to take in more birds until we place some of our current foster birds with adopters. That means that the 2 show kings at SFACC, the lost racing pigeon in Los Gatos and a young king at Berkeley Animal Care are being turned down by me for foster care and referred to Pigeon Talk http://www.pigeons.biz/forums and individual rescuers in the hopes that others can help them. And there will be more. While we recently placed 52 of the Persian High Flyers with two great adopters, we have 162 left to rehome and a limited time within which to do it (the volunteer whose property they are being fostered at is in process for a short sale). We also placed 7 kings and 4 doves in the month of April (Yay!) but it still leaves us with over 250 pigeons and doves in foster care (pigeons outnumber doves 10 to 1). I am at my max for the numbers of foster birds that I can properly support. Here's what I think we need to be able to take in more birds: Adopters Dove Coordinator Volunteer (approx. 2 hours per week, helps coordinate intake, provide outreach & PR, and works with potential adopters and Filoli foster aviary) Adoption Application Coordinator Volunteer (approx. 3 hours per week, respond to incoming apps, guide PAs through to approval or recommended follow up) Let me know if you or someone you know would like to adopt or help. Thank you for your understanding and support. Here are some links to information about MickaCoo Pigeon & Dove Rescue (and I've attached our flyer as well).
