Re: [MickaCoo] [Mickaboo Discuss] Pidgeon found with poss. Broken wings

Hello, Priya-
Most wildlife rescues, even those that do help pigeons (WildCare, PHS,
WCSV), will euthanize a pij with a wing injury, despite the fact that a
flightless pij can live a long and happy life as a pet (and are legal to
keep).
Dr. Speer at the Medical Center for Birds in Oakley might treat him and then
MickaCoo could work on finding a home (though we are again full up and being
flooded with new birds!) or the same with Dr. Cythina Lynn at Montclair Vet
Hospital in Oakland.
I'm swamped and late for an appointment and so not able to help much with
this- I'm sorry. You might want to just keep and stabilize the pigeon and
post to Pigeon Talk at www.pigeons.biz/forums for helping finding a local
rehabber with an opening. If you do that, mention MickaCoo sent you or
they'll just send you back to me.
I've included MickaCoo's Discussion Group in this response just in case
someone feels they can help. We've had 7 requests to intake pigeons in the
past 4 days and so MickaCoo is feeling really full up again.
THANK YOU FOR HELPING THIS PIGEON. You can try calling me at (415) 420-7204
if that will help.

A coworker of mine (we are vet techs) just called me saying she picked up a pidgeon that might have broken wings in concord. I know Lindsay doesn't treat pidgeons...what can we do to help him out? I'm in class at the moment otherwise I could get him, and we don't treat birds at my clinic.
Please let me know ASAP
