I need any tips on wing rehab you can offer me would be much appreciated!

Hi Everyone, I am doing rehab on a bird with a puncture wound (probably from a hawk) on it's "elbow" joint. Besides antibiotics and pain meds, the vet recommended physical therapy and warm compresses. Has anyone out in rescue land done this type of rehab on a bird? If you have, I would love to hear your tips, tricks etc. Thank you so much!! Tania Tengan

I am doing rehab on a bird with a puncture wound
Hi Tania, What kind of bird is this? I once fostered a cockatiel, Austin ("astronaut, a jim barely alive . . . . ) who'd been carried off and subsequently dropped by a raptor. I gave him plenty of time on an open playgym where he could stretch and flap, and I would stretch myself anytime I walked by to stimulate him to do the same (this seems to be and international greeting among most parrot-type birds.) He had to take antibiotics and pain meds for a while but he seems to have recovered fully and is happily adopted. Good luck. --VH
