I'm going to try and be there with a pigeon or two.
Thank you, Lissa, for the invite!

Andy's Pet Shop is sponsoring a "bird parade" this Wednesday prior to an outdoor screening of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. The San Jose Downtown Association can provide a pop-up and table for display of Mickaboo materials. I need to know right away if someone wants to do this so I can tell them. It would be for less than 2 hours. We can pack up and leave when the movie starts.
Also, anyone who wishes to bring a bird, please contact me directly, or call the store with your contact information, so I know if we will have enough birds. I'll give you more detailed information about where to meet, etc. Will need to know your bird's name, a little history, favorite food, favorite movie, and what your bird is afraid of. We'll have a microphone to introduce each bird. You can use the microphone or I'll be the MC.
It's kind of a low-key affair. A couple hundred people turn out for these movies, and other folks will be passing by. Movie will start about 8:45 pm when it's dark enough. The flyer is showing "bird parade" scheduled from 7:30 - 8:30.
What it's like: Lots of families and friendly groups. Free outdoor movies every Wednesday during the summer. This one is Historic District on Post St between Market and First.

People come early to snag front-row seats. You can bring your own food, or get takeout from nearby restaurants. Bring your own chair. Beer and wine available but you're not supposed to bring your own. The Downtown Association tries to get someone to provide a little entertainment or contest and Andy's was asked because of the obvious connection.
People go milling about, many people stay with their chairs. There will be a big aisle to walk from the booths at the back of the crowd up to the screen where the microphone will be. You'll be able to walk around and show off your bird individually, while we have some sort of introductions going at the front.
Because it's outside, your bird should be in a carrier or on a harness. No Mickaboo fosters loose outside, please. Our store pet Ruby the Scarlet Macaw will have her wings well-trimmed, and will be carried by hand. You may do that with your own bird, but not with a foster. I can help with wire carriers if you don't have a small cage. It's obviously best to use a tiny cage or wire carrier so the bird can be seen.
I do not plan to stay for the movie. I don't want our birds getting any funny ideas.
