RedRover Responders volunteer workshop Santa Cruz, CA June 9

With more than 2,700 active RedRover Responders volunteers in the U.S. and Canada, RedRover can respond when communities become overburdened by a crisis involving a large number of animals. In 2011, RedRover Responders volunteers traveled from 36 states and 2 Canadian Provinces to provide temporary animal sheltering in 18 emergency situations, including 6 natural disasters. Volunteers helped more than 4,300 animals and spent a total of 140 days on deployment. Volunteers also participated in disaster preparedness education and community planning.

No previous experience is required and volunteers of all animal handling skills are welcome. The workshop registration fee of $50 includes a volunteer handbook, and the volunteer t-shirt, official photo ID badge and certificate of completion that are mailed upon completion of the volunteer training program. In addition to attending one of the four-hour volunteer training workshops, potential volunteers must also complete self-paced online training before being added to our deployment roster.
