The Santa Cruz SPCA is having “summer camp” sessions for youth in elementary and junior high school grades, and has invited Mickaboo to come! The camp organizers are looking for a volunteer (or volunteers) to speak one day out of each week; the date and time are flexible based on the volunteer(s)’s schedules. Recommended speaking time is 45-60 minutes if possible – and of course the topic is about having birds as pets – what it means to be a responsible bird owner, and what makes birds a good choice or not for the situation at hand.
So, if YOU wanted to volunteer – you could pick your hour sometime during the week of July 9 (for example).
The camp is held at 2260 7th Avenue, Santa Cruz, at the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter. The camp runs M-F from 9 to 3 daily during the dates below; in parentheses are the grades that the kids are in (6 different sessions):
June 18-22 (1-4grade)
June 25-29 (5-8grade)
July 9-13 (1-4grade)
July 16-20 (5-8grade)
July 30-Aug 3 (1-4grade)
Aug 6-10 (5-8grade)
