Everyone,

To expand on the Pam's description of the Mickaboo holiday part, especially for new people in the organization....This is our biggest event of the year, in part because it fulfills so many roles.

For all of us that work on the various parts of Mickaboo's mission, this is the big chance to see and socialize with people that we never see face-to-face.  A lot of Mickaboo volunteers only get to see each at the Holiday Party.  For many years, including this one, the Holiday Party may be our only party.  We get to see some folks at adoption fairs, toy making parties, and other smaller events, but the biggest group comes to the Holiday Party.   [Some years, when we have a social guru, we also have a summer picnic or other midyear event.]

It is even more than a social event, however.  The expenses for this event are covered by generous donors because this is the most important fundraiser of the year.  Traditionally, the Holiday Party generates a substantial percentage of our total revenue and helps us get through the harsh winter months.  This is possible because all of the proceeds come to Mickaboo.

We have been trying to make this event more fun, with a pleasant venue, better and better food, and more interesting activities.  Pam Lee asked for specific feedback last year and is making some changes to reflect that feedback.

But the best part is seeing everyone, catching up on the events of the year that we never get a chance to talk about because when we correspond on line for most of the year, it's "work" -- Mickaboo work!  I hope everyone can come this year and look forward to seeing you there.

Michelle

One of the most anticipated happenings at the annual holiday party & fundraiser are the home-baked goods some people bring cookies and cakes and oh-so-many other items!  These items are then sold, with the proceeds going to Mickaboos benefit.  We have a few bakers on board so far this year, and could use more!

Speaking of folks on board please RSVP if you plan on coming!  Doing so will help ensure we have enough food to go around and we need to solidify the count with the caterer by Nov 22, so puh-leeze RSVP before then at http://confluence.mickaboo.org/display/MBPublic/Mickaboo+Holiday+Party+2010

This is our biggest fundraiser of the year (important given the state of our funds) AND as importantly, and perhaps more so, this is your opportunity to see your fellow Mickabooligans, connect (well have an icebreaker to help) and chat.  Feel free to bring family and friends!

Looking forward to seeing lots of you!
