I'm ever so sorry to have to tell you that dove Piper, beloved mate of Pierre, died last night from complications in her recovery from surgery to correct her deformed legs. A necropsy is being performed. Pierre is lonesome but OK. I've been giving him lots of one-on-one time and attention which he wasn't interested in from me when Piper was home but is accepting now. I will be offering him another companion as he is truly the sweetest little bird husband I have ever seen. I feel really privileged to have been a witness to Pierre and Piper's incredible love affair. I am heartbroken that it has been so tragically cut short.
