Hey there,

I think this class was posted here recently, and I just wanted to give my opinion. I think this will be a very valuable workshop to attend, for those who can make it.

I've been rescuing animals for 10 years. Probably not as long as many of the people on this list, but it's still a long time. I have 8 adopted Mickaboo birds, and 2 rescued ex-racing Greyhounds.

Life balance is critical if you want to continue caring for animals. I've suffered from career and animal rescue burn-out and the message I want to send is -- if you don't take care of yourself first, you won't be able to continue to care for those animals or the people you love. It's a hard lesson to learn when it's something very innate within you, but you can't give and give and give without restoration. Just last year one of the vets I frequent told me of a woman with a big heart that never got a handle on her diet and exercise, and recently died quite young - because she put every critter and every person before her needs. I'm not saying that one should be selfish, but just that one should be reflective.

Hope this doesn't sound preachy, but I felt like I really needed to say this.
