Thanks for this thread. We'll be building an aviary before the end of the year and I was wondering about the perch/cleaning situation myself.

Hello!   I currently (I say that because I plan to grow a bigger one) have a small aviary, so I tend to hose it down everyday to keep it clean.  It saves me from scraping and scrubbing.   I also find with narrow perches and ledges, my pij tend to want to keep it clean and they aim there butts over the ledge.  I also have a pigeon who just poops where ever.  But, it appears in general to me they like to keep there favorite spots and nesting boxes clean!  Just one more reason to love Pigeons as pets:)

Have a great dat!

Hi Elizabeth, I noticed in some photos you sent me, That you use rope for perches. The rope had no pigeon poop on them, I have wide wooden perches that get covered in poop. Is the rope clean just a lucky shot or do they stay clean? Thanks Alex
