Hi Kim, Rescues For Parrots is my group on yahoo. Sorry for all the confusion.
One of my members suggested I contact the mickacoo group, which is how you all
got invloved.
I am in Nashvile, TN and have found a rehabber to take the bird to in a couple
of hours. I do worry about the foot but am hoping it wll be ok.
Thanks!! Kim

My message to Kim this morning didn't copy to the list. My mistake. She's in
Nashville and was in contact with a wildlife rehabber who was too busy to help
at the moment. I sent the name of a wildlife rehab center close to Nashville
(Walden's Puddle). If anyone has other resources . . .

Thank you for helping this dove. I assume it’s a wild Mourning dove? Can you
take it to the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley (www.wcsv.org)? If not, let me
know ASAP so I can pick it up and take it (if you’re here in San Jose). THIS
DOVE NEEDS ANTIBIOTICS ASAP!! Cats carry Pasteurella in their saliva a bacteria
that is deadly to birds. It can kill them in 48 hours from infection even if
you don’t see visible wounds. It’s essential that the dove get prompt medical
care.
Call me at (408) 205-3058 if you need help with the dove.

I moved him into a small cage I have. He can fly I think (he flew around the
bathroom) but I think his foot is broken, he is dragging it behind him when he
walks on the bottom of the cage. I covered the cage with towels on three sides
to reduce the stress
.
I put a small bowl of water and sunflower seeds in the cage on the bottom. I
will get some parakeet seed shortly to see if he will eat that. The sunflower
seeds are the really small ones. They eat them in my backyard all the time.
If his little foot is broken, does he have a chance? Would a rehabber be able to
help him?

Yes. Leave him in the carrier. Mickaboo has a sister group now called mickacoo.
They often care for them in carriers. Elizabeth is expert. But I am also
including coo's email add in sender list. Liz's addy is adopt one. They will
help a lot

One of my kitties was very bad yesterday afternoon and caught a Dove (they feed
at my outside bird feeders). I got it and have it in a carrier with some
sunflower seeds and water. To be honest I did not think he would make it though
the night, but he has and seems alert this morning. The problem is, he lost ALOT
of feathers, all of his tail feathers for sure, not sure about flight feathers.
Now I don't know what to do. I may try and put him in a small cage so I can see
if he will perch, but I don't want to stress him out. Any thoughts???
