The next adoption fair in Sacramento is October- Sunday the 7th from 10- 3. Bill reserved 2 dates for us- one in September and one in October. Unless we foresee Columbus Day as being a distraction, which could potentially affect attendance, that will be the date of the fair. Elizabeth just emailed me and MickaCoo will be there! They had a conflict for the last fair, but can make it this time. The last time they participated we had a really good response from people who attended. I will soon be sending out a group email to those in the area to set up scheduling for the fair. If you are new to Mickaboo, and we’ve not yet met, please email me privately that so I can add you to the list. The more the merrier I say and this is a good way to meet others in your area. Mickaboo is all about teamwork and working together. As always I really appreciate everyone’s help at the fairs. Speaking of teamwork- yes Davis Sosa recommended the Rocklin library. He made the initial contact and then I followed up. It was very nice of him to do that and I appreciate it very much. I am not sure if we will be able to use it as I received a call tonight that we would be charge per hour for facility use- but I am still negotiating. Keep your fungers crossed. Bill located the Carmichael site, which we LOVE, and I found the one in Citrus Heights which we used for a few years in the beginning. It was great for awhile but they were not too receptive of the birds. If anyone knows of any other venues, that do not charge a fee, please let me know. We have checked community centers, Elks Lodges, rec centers etc. If anyone knows of a place or has an "in" somewhere please let me know. Via discussion at our sacto meetings we like the idea of having our annual big fair each year at Carmichael, in the fall, and one or two additional smaller ones at rotating sites.
While my communication is primarily with vols in this area anyone from Micakboo is always welcome to come! Occasionally a few have carpooled from the bay area to come up. It's fun to meet people you may have emailed or spoken with for a long time, but never met in person.
Before I forget- if you are sure you can attend and bring your foster bird)s) please let me know. Last time the newspaper editor allowed several photographs of birds with our announcement. If you'd like your bird featured -please send me a good, high pixel photo. I'd like to represent several species like last time. Sometimes people will come to the fair just to meet a bird whose photo they saw.
Email me if you have questions!
Thanks! Francie
