Instead of gift cards, Groupon holds a fundraiser for
a non-profit! They
feature the "deal" on the landing page for your area, and
ask for people to
donate $10 towards a goal. Mine was "If 30 people donate
$10, then Charm
City Animal Rescue can feed all the cats in their rescue for
one month."
You have to have a set goal amount, or as they call it - a
tipping point.
If you don't reach this point, you don't get the money and no
cards are
charged. I set my amount low, and we went WAY over!
I can see
the advantages to setting it higher, as you want to get all of
those
donations. But the disadvantage is that you get none if you don't
reach that
mark. You can also find a company to match what you raise,
thereby doubling
what you raise!
