Hello-

I was going to put these updates in individual emails but decided to put them in one and send them to y'all.  So there!

UPDATES:
Freckles (Cheryl A's foster king who is hanging out in my coop for awhile) has gotten her confidence back and is quite the big youngster in the coop now.  If she (?) wants a food dish to herself, she is not afraid to stand up to the grown ups to take it over!

Sam (Alice's rescued adult male feral, blind in one eye) is a bit of what I lovingly call a thug.  He's a tough street pij in a coop full of babies and old birds and domestic kings so I think sometimes he gets a little stir crazy.  Today he took a big bath- always a happy sign.  Alice- sometimes I still wonder if he's releasable... If I let him out of my coop, he might join up with my feral flock (with whom he flirts through the fence) or he might be very torn- since he has his mate Rex in the coop or he might take off for you and his old home...

Duke (Suzanne's king who broke his leg) is doing great.  He's happy in the coop and took a big bath today to prove it.  He's pretty much fully recovered.

Tina & Tony (sick Indian Fantails dumped at a gas station and rescued and foster by Mickaboomer Louisa) are doing great.  They're in nest mode and very much in love.  Their poops are continuing to improve.  Louisa & Cheryl- Is Tony's eye medicine on the way?

Star (weak feral fledgling that took shelter on Carol's SF doorstep) is doing very well.  I can tell she's feeling better because she is much feistier and gaining strength. She spent the afternoon yesterday and again today outside with the "big birds" in the coop.  Scary but more fun than in a cage on the kitchen counter. She naps happily in her basket when I bring her back in.  Fingers crossed- the feral rehabber's going to pick her up tonight. She'll live with other fledglings until she's bonded with the flock and then be released into the wild.

Monday (the sick feral adult that flew into my backyard and was too weak to fly away) has made a great improvement (treated with Foy's 4 in 1, wormed, loused, handfed some and a week of cage rest), gained weight, and I expect to release her this Saturday.  She's been in the coop since Wednesday and is doing fine. Since I found her in my backyard, I'm just going to release her there (presumably she's one of my feral flock).  There's something very unpigeon like about her and I should have named her Robin.  I'll try to get some pix to show what I mean before she goes free.

Peppermint accompanied me to meet some of the Animal Campers at SF Friends' School on Tuesday and he, as always, was a hit.

Pierre & Piper (semi-splay legged dove & mate) are doing very well.  Pierre's leg works great when hobbled but still drifts out and back when unhobbled so it is likely that he will need the second surgery to finish the job.  Piper, after a long spell of promising to, laid him a pair of adorable eggs in the nest they built up 4" deep (!) and Pierre is VERY proud and very protective of his cage world.

Sad News-
Snowflake, the baby king Mickaboomer Mal picked up from a good samaritan on Tuesday and who my friend Sira transported to me yesterday, died today of respiratory failure.

So there- there's a few of the MickaCoo Bayview updates for now.

I hope all is well with you and yours,

e
