"Kunstlercast" is the podcast of James Howard Kunstler, who is one of my favorite authors. He is a respected architecture critic, who lately has turned in to a brilliant social critic. Recently, he and his co-host Duncan Crary hosted Andrew Blechmann, who wrote a book called "Leisureville" about a town build for seniors only (children need guest passes etc). However, Blechmann's previous book was about pigeons, so the hosts decided to make a bonus podcast mini-episode about pigeons. I didn't know what to expect, as Kunstler, like many other great thinkers, can be pretty harsh, though IMO spot on. As a quick taste, of the USA, he is fond of saying that "Eighty percent of everything ever built in America has been built in the last fifty years, and most of it is depressing, brutal, ugly, unhealthy, and spiritually degrading. We've turned into a nation of overfed clowns, riding around in clown cars, eating clown food, watching clown shows. We've become a nation of cringing, craven fuckups." The pigeon episode turned out to be great. While writing the book, Blechmann began to truly appreciate pigeons, and had some nice things to say about them.
