Parrot Chronicles article about Mickaboo adoption fair at Petco

I mentioned this article a while back when it looked as though Parrot Chronicles had removed it from their web page. They had not removed it after all, but had rearranged archived content such that my saved URL no longer worked. The current URL is: http://www.parrotchronicles.com/features/petco/petco.htm For what it is worth, this is proof that Mickaboo has been willing to work with pet stores in the past, and that Petco has at least considered "eventually phasing out its small animal sales in favor of hosting adoption fairs." I am going to save this off in PDF format as well in case they ever do really remove it. Vincent J. Hrovat

Thanks, Vinny. I just shared this with SF ACWC Commissioners Philip & Sally. e On Thu, Aug 5, 2010 at 3:24 PM, Vincent J. Hrovat <1217@vhrovat.org> wrote:

Hard to believe that was only seven years ago.

Just found this - did anyone else see/hear this? I haven't had a chance to listen yet. http://www.kgoradio.com/Article.asp?id=1869135&nId=1&spid=25697 Gil Gross July 8, 2010 Hour #1 Download or Listen The San Francisco Commission of Animal Control and Welfare are proposing a ban in San Francisco to stop selling animals in pet stores and Gil speaks with Chairwoman of the Commission Sally Stevens about the ban. He also speaks with Jennifer Grafelman, manager of Animal Connection, who says it will hurt business across the city.

When I try to listen, I get some other show (some Navy guy or ?)...
If anybody has Rick French's interview with Ronn Owens (7/7/10) saved and
can send to me, I would appreciate it. I'd like to listen and the archives
don't go back that far.

I also have this podcast saved off in mp3 format. Email me if you want it.
It's 18Mb, which is a bit large to be distributing via listserv.
I'm wondering if we should keep electronic copies of all media clips which
feature or pertain to Mickaboo. This would be backstage, for organizational
reference only and not for rebroadcast or distribution. Our lawyer might
have comments about legality thereof but I don't think that it would be too
different from clipping a newspaper article and putting it in a scrapbook.
Where in our technical infrastructure these clips/articles would reside and
who would have access to them are, hopefully minor details. (The AV clips,
at least, are fairly large BLOB files so might need to be stored directly on
a Linux filesystem for shell-only access instead of putting them in, say
Wiki or ASM.)
The Chronicle keeps stuff online for many years, as do many newspapers.
However, we never know when this content is going to be taken down and, as
we have seen with the Ronn Owens podcast that Elizabeth is trying to get,
some of these don't have a very long shelf life.
IMO, some of this media (the Parrot Chronicles article about Petco adoption
fair, for example!) is an important part of our organizational history and
we should keep a copy of it for reference.

Agreed. Is important to have an independent archive.
I have the Ronn Owens podcast on my laptop at home - l'll be sending it to her when I get home. If anyone else would like it, please let me know and will forward.

I’d like the podcast. I’m collecting audio files for a woman out in Amador County who is interested in the issue.

Wiki is a fine place to keep them. Our SQL server supports very large files anyway, but confluence stores very large files in raw filesystem space. On Aug 6, 2010, at 4:14 PM, "Vincent J. Hrovat" <1217@vhrovat.org> wrote:
