Re: [Media-advisors] Rio (macaw movie) teaser

If we are there purely to dispense information about caring for exotic birds to a ready-made audience, as opposed to protesting the film or the practice of capturing wild birds, I don't think we should be shut out.
(Reminds me of guys who go to bars on Ladies Nights to swoop in on the pre-treated prey)

It would be a great opportunity to talk to
families and young couples about birds before they
run to Petco and buy a sun conure. We would
encourage them to start with cockatiels and
budgies if they insist on getting a bird. Then we
encourage them to rescue a bird rather than buy
from a store. We could hand out coupons for free
Mickaboo bird classes!

That is a BRILLIANT idea. I think we should have business cards that double
as coupons for free Mickaboo classes!

From: "Jonathan Harris" Subject: Re: [Media-advisors] Rio (macaw movie) teaser The possibility of doing something like this likely would depend both on our message and where the theater was situated. Anything that smacks of an informational picket (which a critique of the movie might imply) won't be well received or tolerated. Moreover, if the theater is in a shopping center (mall), that is legally private property, not a public street, and they can deny access to anyone; there is no freedom of speech guaranteed there.

It is possible to set up tables at individual theaters by contacting theater managers. I know one corporation asked their sales people to sell product at movie theaters when a movie with links to their product came out. It would have to be educational in order to be a positive addition to the movie-goers experience.
It takes some time to set up but it looks like we have prep time. We need
