Thanks to Vinnie reminding me (I don't know where my brain has disappeared to), I'm conceptualizing the press release. We have the stats for how much expenses have risen, but I don't see the respective stats for how much donations have dropped. (in % only, not actual dollar amounts) Can someone find or figure out that number? Also- 357 birds surrendered this year is not exceptionally high, making it a non-starter as a press release issue. (I think we had 450 surrendered a few years ago.) (Does the 357 include doves & pigeons?) We can point to the worse condition of birds we do get & maybe-- not conclusively-- attach it to the increase in vet expenses-- but who knows, that could also be attributed to an increase in vet charges per treatment (inflation). An exception might be that more wild-flock members hit us this year, and their med bills are always higher (neurological issues). I'd appreciate any statistics that could help here. p
