" Supporters of the ban failed to move the Commission with their statements
that keeping birds is cruel, and that birds shouldn't be kept as pets at
all." ". . . rescues also charge high fees, which are normally equal or even
higher than the amount a person would pay in a pet store when buying a bird
or other pet. Most rescues would see more people adopting from them, if they
were to lower their fees, and streamline the process"
Pam, thanks for posting this link. Ed Morgan, the career breeder, makes it
abundantly clear who butters his bread. Looks like the people who took the
survey largely disagreed with him.

Subject: [Media-advisors] Fwd: Survey results on pet sale ban
ran across this, thought this group might be interested (if you had not
already seen it). I thought the survey results were interesting - especially
so given the tone of the lead-in article.
Fyi - we had a breeder at the carmichael adoption fair this past weekend
talk to us (and our fair attendees) about much the same issues, Same
arguments and solutions (incuding him taking our birds and adopting them
out) as I heard at the city hall hearings and this message board.
Fortunately we were able to defuse him without the situation heating up. We
were prepared to escort him and his family out, otherwise.
