Thanks Elizabeth. So, what is our action item? Should we ask Patricia to go to the well again with her contacts (if, of course, she is willing to do so)? If so, what, exactly should she ask for? Do we want to get our story straight first?

Patricia could frame the topic by saying that the movie is doing very well and that we could help keep that interest up with a special screening that would give people a chance to learn about macaws in the wild, the complexities and joys of parrots as pets, etc.

Generally, if a movie tanks on opening weekend there’s not much need for collateral marketing after that so this would be a moot point. As of 04/25/2011, Rio has worldwide gross of $296M on a production budget of $90M (per http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=intl&id=rio.htm ), so the movie seems to be  making a ton of money for Fox Studios! We would be justified, IMO, in saying that we could help to keep the public’s interest up while using the movie to help spread our message.

Thanks.

In the latest newsletter from The Oasis there is an ad for a "private screening" of Rio in Scottsdale, AZ put on by 2 AZ bird groups (SeedCrackers Society and Chirping Central).  They are charging $20, including popcorn and soda.  I can't tell exactly what kind of venue it is - just says Harkins Scottsdale Fashion 7 in Fashion Square. The funds raised are to benefit the SeedCrackers and the Lear's macaw.  Further details are available at www.chirpingcentral.com
