In the first major step towards saving and documenting as much positive media coverage of our organization as possible, Mickaboo has  a new section in its out-facing Reading Room:

Look at the third bullet down, entitled: “Mickaboo in the News!” For now this contains one subsection, listing and linking to several (20 as of now) articles from fairly mainstream newspapers and magazines.

I will appreciate it if you all take a few moments to look at the list of news articles – hey, why not actually read the articles, if you haven’t yet! --  and see if you know of any that aren’t included in the list. To be included, an article should:

n Be from a fairly major and mainstream text-based media provider (not audio or video, yet)

n Either be about Mickaboo, mention Mickaboo prominently, or be about a topic that is germane to our mission and principles

n Be positive, substantive and represent us appropriately

This list does NOT include:

n Letters to the editor (may be handled separately)

n Announcements about scheduled events or classes with no substantive details

n Web-based comments about Mickaboo in response to articles which are not about Mickaboo

n Internal position statements which we wanted published but they were not (going forward, these should probably be treated as press releases, IMO.)

If you think I missed an article that should be included -- and I’m sure that I did --  I will appreciate it if you provide me with as much information as you can about when it was published and by whom. If you can provide a URL that will be great. And if you can double-check that it’s not already on the list :- ) before you tell me about it, that will help.

We may of course have to decide whether some articles are or should be in scope. For the time I have been fairly inclusive and a few of them that I have listed may wash.

Eventually we (I, at least) hope to add at least two and maybe three more subsections to “Mickaboo in the News!” One of these will be for press releases, which we are just getting started on, and one for multimedia such as radio interviews or TV spots. We might also add a subsection for letters to the editor about us. But for now I would like to get the news articles section as “done” as possible and we can build on that as time permits.
